It's crucial for our state and local governments to eliminate taxes on menstrual products and ensure they are accessible in public spaces, especially for those who cannot afford them. This is about necessity and dignity for all women and girls.

In Wisconsin, many rights affecting women are under threat due to the Republican-controlled legislature, and only 30% of women serve in the legislature. We need to elect more women to change this dynamic, especially ones that will refuse to take no for an answer and will fight hard every day in the capitol.

Drawing from my experience on the Advisory Council at Wisconsin Women Business Initiative Corporation (WWBIC) and the board of Wisconsin Women Entrepreneurs (WWE), I am committed to advancing policies that empower women. This includes supporting all women's rights, achieving equal pay, improving healthcare access, making childcare more affordable, and increasing women’s representation across all sectors.

WOMEN'S REPRODUCTIVE HEALTHCARE

My policy priorities are dedicated to advancing women's reproductive rights and health. These measures aim to ensure that all women have the autonomy, support, and access to healthcare needed to make informed decisions about their bodies and lives. Government should not impose religious views on women's bodies; it is a fundamental American right to have control over one's own reproductive health. Here are key priorities:

  • Ensure comprehensive access to reproductive healthcare services, including contraception and prenatal care.

  • Improve maternal health outcomes by expanding Medicaid coverage for postpartum care, establishing programs for maternal mental health and substance abuse treatment, and implementing statewide standards for maternal healthcare. This initiative aims to reduce the maternal mortality rate and ensure adequate prenatal care.

  • Expand the use of community health workers to provide culturally competent care and education in underserved communities.

FAIR PAY

I am committed to supporting the implementation of fair pay practices and holding employers accountable for wage discrimination. By ensuring that women receive equal pay for equal work, we can promote fairness, strengthen families, and build a more prosperous future for all.

AFFORDABLE CHILDCARE

Supporting initiatives to make childcare more affordable and accessible is essential for empowering women and ensuring economic opportunity for all. As a state legislator, I am committed to providing incentives and assistance to childcare providers, making quality care more attainable for families. No woman should ever have to choose between her career aspirations and the well-being of her family.

A SEAT AT THE TABLE

Encouraging women's leadership and representation across various sectors is vital for fostering diversity and inclusivity. As a state legislator, I am committed to advocating for programs that offer mentorship, training, and resources to empower women to pursue and excel in leadership roles. I will spearhead initiatives aimed at creating mentorship programs specifically tailored to women, providing opportunities for them to engage in politics, business, and other key areas. By nurturing and supporting women's leadership aspirations, we can ensure their perspectives are valued in decision-making processes, leading to more equitable and effective outcomes for our communities.
